Claudia was a very strict teacher, yet always gentle. I don’t know how that is possible, but she manages it, and it pushed me to give more and more. I learned a great deal with her and from her. Thanks to her I discovered I was very good at things I thought I was hopeless at, and I began to trust my own abilities.

In every lesson Claudia conveys culture and wisdom. She taught me that “if I want to, I can” and that effort gives results their value. With her I began to love Greek, discovering how much more interesting it is than the way it is presented at school. She taught me to reason about linguistic phenomena through historical linguistics, allowing me to truly understand and love the subject.

In our first lesson she spoke to me of “a thread running through three thousand years of history.” Along the way I began to see it too. Her explanations connect literature, history, philosophy and art. School started to make sense. I feel I am building something, and that my ability to make connections grows every day. Before, I was bored; now I can’t wait to discover new things.

I’m in the third year of a language-focused lyceum and I’d like to share my experience. I got on really well with the teacher: she is approachable, passionate and kind, even if she can seem strict. She explains things simply and helps you grasp the topic actively, as though you had to repeat it straight away. Claudia is a truly excellent teacher and a wonderful person. Many times I found myself struggling, and Claudia always tried to help me, even changing her usual way of explaining just to make me understand. To close, I’ll share a piece of advice she gave me in my first year and that I still follow today: “If I want to, I can. If I can’t, it’s because I don’t want to. The strong one is not the one without frailties, but the one with the courage to face them — just as the brave one is not the one without fear, but the one with the courage to face it.”
